RADIO PRODUCTION ROLES /MUSIC AND SOUND

Radio Commercials Producer:
To be a Radio Commercials Producer you will need to have many skills and abilities.First of all it would be good to have a genuine interest in radio production along with a strong understanding of how to produce and sell goods and service through radio production.A good imagination would be good for a radio producer for creating strong ideas to distribute them to the wider audience.A strong idea of how the radio market is along with the intellect to work with certain budgets for radio production.

Being able to work under pressure and produce good radio commercials will also be required in order to be a radio commercials producer.

Radio Broadcast Assistant:
To be a Radio Broadcast Assistant you will need to have strong organisation skills for setting up broadcasts and pay a lot of a attention to detailed areas.Also with  the ability to be creative and solve problems.Having a strong knowledge of the UK market along with different radio stations with different program styles.Quick reactions and effective work under pressure will be needed for this job role with the ability to communicate with others well,with being self motivated to work quickly.Having the knowledge for licensing along with strong IT skills for audio editing and image creating with the skills to use a wide range of recording equipment in different radio studios.

Voice Actor: To be a Voice Actor you will need the skills to be on time with preparing and performing auditions along with casting sessions.Having a good short-term memory and the ability to learn things then forget them will be good.When doing voice overs it would be good to assume other identifies for the role your playing and the ability to different regional and national accents.Also being able to learn new lines at very short notice to accommodate new script changes and cuts will be essential in being a voice actor. Being able to deliver lines at a specific pace and to precise timings,particularly when dubbing lines.Being aware of how a microphone may change your voice during a voice over will be helpful in being a voice actor.

Radio Sales Executive: To be a Radio Sales Executive you will need to have a good work ethic and excellent sales skills.Alongside that strong business skills and the ability to make accurate revenue forecasts will be required for this role.Confidence will be very helpful along with determinations to create and peruse deals with the mindset to be able to handle rejection.Brilliant writing and presentation skills will be necessary along with excellent communication skills complemented by diplomacy.Having knowledge of the law along with ethics and industry regulations around radio sales along with strong IT skills for data handling and word processing would be necessary for being a Radio Sales Executive.

Radio Traffic Manager:
To do this role you will need some certain skills.Excellent organisational and administrative skills would be required for this role along with paying close attention to detail.being able to analyse and interpret date would also be very helpful to know how to do in this role.Good writing and presentation skills would be good for a radio traffic manager along with strong knowledge about the radio market along with different station programme styles and audience demographics.Being a radio traffic manager will also require a good understanding of the radio sales process and will need to be good at using relevant traffic management and play out software.Working calmly and effectively under pressure will also be asked for.

Session Singer: To be a session singer you will need some special skills to do this role.Good organisation skills to prepare and perform at voice over auditions and casting sessions along with arriving ready to perform with your voice warmed up in advance,along with the knowledge and awareness that different methods of warming up are required depending on the time of day.It would also be very good if you had some linguistic abilities in case of being required to sing in other languages.Session Singers will also have to have a good knowledge of the phonetic alphabet along with some acting skills with the ability to do a regional or possibly national accents.Being aware of the requirements of working with different types of microphones.

Prerecorded sound effects: Prerecorded sound effects are used because possibly the voice over will be taking a long while to do and therefore it would be good to get the sound effects recorded in advance so that when the voice overs are done they can be put together with ease.Also if sound effects are recorded late it may cause the radio advert to not meet the deadline so doing it in advance will save a lot of time.Another reason for sound effects is that they add realism to the advert and make things realistic instead of making it blank and lifeless

Styles and Moods: The reason their are different styles and moods in radio adverts is because some adverts give different messages to others.Adverts that talk about things such as food will be done in a lively mood in a informal style to appeal to a happy audience.A radio advert that has to do with something serious such as poverty in other countries will be done in a formal style and in a sad but serious mood talking and giving information to the audience in a serious manner.Things such as stings which are musical phrases which are around 5 seconds or under are only suitable for informal radio adverts which are comical or have to do with sport or some form of drama.Things like that appeal to a younger audience who find things like humorous.
